Abstract | Different requirements of electrostatic precipitator fields regarding the properties of high voltage supplies have been investigated. The fields of an electrostatic precipitator show different electrical behavior and efficiency. This is caused by the different dust loads of the fields, by the particle size and properties and by the possibility to charge the particles in the entire field. An overview of common and new topologies of high voltage Supplies and their properties is given. It is shown how this property can match the requirements of the entire fields of an electrostatic precipitator. Large particles and high dust loads can be addressed effectively by high frequency power supplies, whereby fine particles can be separated efficiently by pulsed power supplies. Additionally, the power consumption of different HV sources has been investigated. In relation to the efficiency. Results were obtained on an industrial electrostatic precipitator containing 3 fields in a sinter plant and on a large precipitator in a fossil power plant, containing 30 fields. It could be shown that a high frequency IGBT inverter combined with a /spl mu/s-pulsed power supply could improve the overall precipitator performance significantly. |
