| Abstract | A method has been developed for analyzing 2-D solid-liquid phase change melting process in the condition of gravity and natural convection. The method solves the phase change problems by the enthalpy method coming from computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software (Fluent 6.2). Solid-liquid interface positions, temperature distributions and speed vector distributions are obtained in separately time of the melting process. Numerical results are compared with available experimental and computational results from some references. The comparison verifies that the approach is correct and applicable. On the basis of the method, porous theory solved 2-D solid-liquid phase change melting process in porous media. Numerical results show that porous media has a certain effect on solid-liquid phase change process. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
