NDLI: The study of effects a visual display terminal on ongoing brain power process using Electroencephalogram (EEG)

Abstract	Mental workload is a ratio between task demands and the working capacity of the employee. Under excessive mental workload, human operators may exhibit delayed information processing, or even not respond at all to incoming information. The aim of this study is to investigate the relation between the mental workload and visual attention task with ongoing brain power process using Electroencephalogram (EEG). Five males and 5 females with the average age of the subjects is 21.30 ± 5.12 years participated in the study. The subjects performed visual attention task that consisted 100 dots. EEG signals were recorded within 20 minutes. Independent t-test analysis result shows that there is no influence of gender on the EEG signals. The results also demonstrate that human will less focus after prolonged visual attention task. As a conclusion, Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a base used in the estimation of mental workload and fatigue on ongoing brain power process and on the brain's response to particular events of mental work load tasks.
