| Abstract | In this paper we present reduced training sequence in a Decision Feedback Equalizer (DFE) with Recursive Least Square (RLS) adaptive algorithm to mitigate the effect of inter-symbol interference (ISI) in an indoor Visible Light Communication (VLC) channel. We have analyzed the performance of the RLS algorithm with the DFE for the improvement of bit error rate (BER) in an indoor channel model. The wireless optical channel model consists of four sources of Light Emitting Diode (LED) transmitters that are used to illuminate the room as well as transmit data. The illumination pattern of the lights in the environment has also been considered. From this analysis, we have proven that with the proposed RLS equalizer, the training sequence can be reduced to allow more data bits to be transmitted for the identical Bit Error Rate (BER) performance. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
