Abstract	The HF Lossy Line was conceived to meet the need to protect aircraft cabling from HF external environments. This concept results in removing the overbraid in this application, removing the need for filter pin connectors, removing EMC backshell connectors, and providing wire maintenance identical to nonoverbraided cable. The new HF Lossy Line otherwise provides the same form, fit and function of a nonlossy line. The outside diameter is the same size of existing wires, thus allowing this wire to be used interchangeably with old or new designs. The line could be routed through the same wire ways, clamps, harnesses and so forth. The conductors and wire types such as hookup wire, twisted pairs cable, or coax cable are identical to a nonlossy line. Standard connectors are compatible with the HF Lossy Line with no unique pin, backshell, or stain relied requirements. The disappearance of shield and over-braids simplifies the system design and wire maintenance, with the additional EMC improvement.
