| Abstract | There are many e-commerce applications on the Web. A common shortcoming is the lack of customer service and marketing analysis tools in most e-commerce web sites. In order to overcome this problem, we have constructed an intelligent agent based on Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) and collaborative filtering, which we have included in our product recommendation system, called PCFinder. This system was four main characteristics. The first is applying novel methodologies based on CBR to an e-commerce application. We propose a heuristic to represent an Order-Based Similarity Measure, together with the method of weight modification and adaptation. The second is applying CBR and collaborative filtering techniques to make our intelligent agent more efficient and effective. We also apply clustering analysis techniques to assist our intelligent agent for grouping the customers according to their long-term profiles in order to analyze the user profiles (external attributes) and provide some suggestions of the items (internal attributes) of the product. The third is introducing a method for constructing product recommendation systems: from architecture to methodologies and from applied technologies to implementations. The last is providing a graphic-building wizard based on clustering analysis of the past purchasing history to the management staff for analyzing the marketing tendencies. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
