Abstract	Summary form only given, as follows. Acrobat 2.0 can play an important part in multimedia systems. The PDF file format and Acrobat viewers allow the faithful, high-quality reproduction of printed matter in electronic form. The Acrobat approach is useful in areas where: the visual structure of a document conveys information, legacy information cannot be re-authored, there are legal or artistic requirements on page fidelity, or documents require sophisticated formatting. With Acrobat Distiller, any PostScript document can be converted to PDF, preserving PostScript's rich imaging model. Acrobat allows the creation of hyperlinks within and between documents, and links to World-Wide Web URLs-becoming "active" documents in the World-Wide Web, not just a "leaf format". The Acrobat architecture is extensible-new objects and functionality may be added through a "plug-in" mechanism, which may extend the hypermedia features of the application. Acrobat 2.0 includes functionality that supports OLE 2.0 embedding, AppleEvents, and Lotus Notes/FX integration.
