NDLI: A modified MUSIC to estimate DOA of the coherent narrowband sources based on UCA

Abstract	MUSIC algorithm based on uniform circular arrays can't estimate directions of arrival of multiple coherent sources. To solve this problem, this paper presents a new method which firstly transforms uniform circular array to virtual uniform linear array by using phase mode excitation, then constructs a new Hermitian-Toeplitz matrix using partial array elements of the virtual uniform linear array covariance matrix, and forms music spatial spectrum by eigenvalue decomposition of this Hermitian-Toeplitz. The peak values are the directions of arrival of the multiple coherent sources. The computer simulation results show that this algorithm is effective.
