| Abstract | Two different ac plasma displays having different bus electrode position were simulated using two-dimensional fluid code. In a conventional plasma display, the bus electrode was located at the outer part of each cell. However, in a proposed structure (hereinafter the in-bus), the bus electrode was positioned at the inner part of each cell. The differences in electron density, Xe/sup */(/sup 3/P/sub 1/) density and wall charge distributions between the conventional and the in-bus structures were studied. Because of the bus position in the in-bus structure, the discharge and wall charges tended to accumulate more at the center of cell than the conventional structure. In Xe 10%-Ne mixture at 500 torr, the simulation showed the comparable discharge efficacy in both structures. 7.5'' test panels in 0.68 /spl times/ 0.90 mm pixel pitch were fabricated for the measurements of luminance, efficacy and driving characteristics. In Xe 8%-Ne mixture, both structures showed very similar efficacies and luminance, but in Xe 14%-Ne mixture, the in-bus structure showed 5% higher efficacy and luminance than the conventional structure. To evaluate the driving characteristics of the test panel in Xe 14%-Ne mixture, the delays of discharge ignition were measured during the address period. Total delay of the ignition in the in-bus structure was less than 1.4 /spl mu/s, and it was 30-40% less than total lag of ignition in the conventional structure. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
