| Abstract | Ferroelectric devices are one of the options available for beam steering. Applying an electric field to a ferroelectric beam deflector controls the direction of the light that propagates through the device. Currently, these devices require relatively high-driving voltages. In this paper, we present an arbitrary waveform generator designed to provide the driving voltages needed. It has five independent output channels, each capable of producing an arbitrary /spl plusmn/ 1.1-kV signal at up to 10 kHz, with 10 mA of drive current. Our design can achieve a total deflection angle of 62.5/spl deg/ with a five-stage ferroelectric beam deflector. It has been tested driving a two-stage LiTaO/sub 3/ ferroelectric beam deflector achieving a total deflection angle of 25/spl deg/. With 16-bit resolution, the driver accurately controls the propagation path of the beam from the first-stage deflector to the second-stage deflector for further deflection. No commercial equipment is available to drive multistage ferroelectric beam-deflector devices. Our design provides a low-cost and compact solution that can be readily adapted for application and device specific requirements. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
