| Abstract | The Telecommunications Management Network (TMN) domain is concerned with a wide variety of network administration tasks, which include: (i) brokering the generation and composition of multimedia telematic services, (ii) orchestrating and monitoring traffic flow from source nodes to a destination node, and (iii) managing network resources in a robust and efficient manner. The introduction of multiple intelligent agents distributed throughout the open TMN environment ensure that the orderly production, transport and integration of vast volumes of heterogeneous data through the telecommunications network is achieved. The paper presents a theoretical discussion on the mechanics of an agent-oriented technology, called Cooperating Knowledge Based Systems (CKBS), to encourage reliable cooperation using agent-based transactions. We then apply this technology to TMN and thus develop a practical architecture that addresses two issues: 1. A cooperation framework which supports agent i... |
