| Description | Report of the Study of Training in the CGIAR System in 1984 commissioned by TAC and prepared by Professors J. E. G. Araujo and A. H. Bunting. The document includes the summary of the discussion of the report at the CGIAR meeting of June 1985, a transmittal letter from the Chairman of TAC with TAC's commentary, comments by representatives of the centers, and a transmittal from Professor Bunting. It also includes a summary of six country case studies. The country studies themselves are in a separate document. Issues treated included the relation of training to CGIAR research, linkages with national universities, incorporating larger development issues into CGIAR training programs, postdoctoral fellowships and developed country participation, and integration of centers' training activities in individual countries. Recommendations are classified into those pertaining to IARC relations with developing countries, types of participating trainees and of training offered, facilities in which training takes place, and donor commitments to training. Preliminary conclusions discussed at TAC 35 held in October November 1984. Agenda document at TAC 36 March 1985, and the CGIAR meeting in June 1985. |
