| Abstract | Welcome to ICS'05, the ACM International Conference on Supercomputing, 2005. Since, 1987, ICS has been a leading forum on all aspects of high performance computing. We hope this, the 19th edition of ICS, consisting of three days of talks, keynotes, and workshops, will be as enjoyable and useful as its predecessors. We received 152 submissions and accepted 42 for an acceptance rate of 27%. This rate is somewhat higher than last year's 21%, (35 accepted from 162 submissions). Moreover, the acceptance rate of program committee papers jumped from 25% to 33%. Of course, statistics are misleading as 3 out of 12 PC papers were accepted last year and 4 out of 12 this year. We feel that ICS remains healthy and competitive. The program committee had a strong international fl avor, with members from 8 different countries, 4 continents, and spanned 12 time zones. The committee held a meeting in Cambridge, MA. Some of the members attended in person, while others via phone, chat room and a wiki. Everyone participated no matter where they were located. As is traditional, this conference comprises papers from a broad range of topics, from architecture to applications. The desire to span a wide range of interest has its strengths and weaknesses. Supercomputing demands solutions that cross the traditional abstraction boundaries. On the other hand, deep but narrow results that appeal to only a very small group of ICS members were likely not to fi nd champions among the program committee members. Indeed, every paper accepted had to have a champion; the absence of fl aws was not enough to get a paper accepted. The review time was very short and the PC members had to quickly review about 15 papers each. The results presented in this conference are timely with less than a half year from submission to presentation. The selection procedure included a rebuttal process which allowed the author a chance to respond to comments made in the reviews. The rebuttal process was valuable and actually changed the status of several papers. We thank the authors for their kind understanding and patience in explaining our misconceptions. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

NDLI is a conglomeration of freely available or institutionally contributed or donated or publisher managed contents. Almost all these contents are hosted and accessed from respective sources. The responsibility for authenticity, relevance, completeness, accuracy, reliability and suitability of these contents rests with the respective organization and NDLI has no responsibility or liability for these. Every effort is made to keep the NDLI portal up and running smoothly unless there are some unavoidable technical issues.
