Value-aware networking for mobile media delivery

| Abstract | This talk describes an architectural framework to wireless media delivery, we call value aware networking in which the knowledge of relative value of data bits are used to best optimize application performance at different layers. The proposed techniques recognize the significance of mobile media content in the future Internet and explore how to optimize application performance natively at different layers, in a manner that is natural to the specific layer. While the concept is fairly general, in this talk, I will focus on specific mechanisms at the MAC and PHY layers, and discuss some technical challenges in implementing such a framework. |
