Description | The Western Recorder, published in Elbert, Elbert County, Colorado, operated from late 1897 to 1898. Founded by J. Ford Crissinger and M. Scott Chenoweth, it quickly gained subscribers and recognition for its local news coverage and illustrations. However, in June 1898, Crissinger and Chenoweth sold the Recorder to J.B. King of the Elbert County Tribune, leading to its merger with the Tribune. This marked the end of the Western Recorder's independent publication, but its legacy continued through its incorporation into the Elbert County Tribune. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1898 of this newspaper. |
