Description | The Kalispell Bee, a semiweekly newspaper, was established by Walter Aitken in Kalispell, Montana, on June 15, 1900. Aitken, originally from Ontario, Canada, had previously worked as a reporter for the Livingston Post and later founded the first newspaper in Stillwater County at Columbus. The Bee, a Democratic paper, was owned by Marcus Daly, a prominent copper king. Its inaugural issue reflected its political stance by criticizing Daly's rival, William Andrews Clark. The newspaper covered a range of topics, including local news from Flathead County and notable features like a story on Glacier National Park with photographs of Lake McDonald. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1901 of this newspaper. |
