Description | "The Black Republican," published in New Orleans, Louisiana, during the post-Civil War Reconstruction era, had a portion of its issues included in the Miscellaneous Negro Newspapers microfilm collection. This collection, consisting of 12 reels, aimed to preserve and provide access to African American newspapers published throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Sponsored by the Committee on Negro Studies of the American Council of Learned Societies in 1947, the microfilm project sought to promote research and scholarship in African American history and culture.
