Description | The Sunday Morning Globe, a Democratic newspaper from 1901, was a prime example of yellow journalism. Founded by William J. Elliott, who had a background in muckraking journalism, the paper boasted a circulation of 16,000 and focused on scandalous stories both nationally and locally. Elliott's colorful past included a conviction for second-degree murder, but he returned to publishing in Washington, D.C., launching the Sunday Globe. Despite its sensational content, the Sunday Morning Globe lasted only a year before folding. Elliott later attempted another paper, The Graft, in 1905, but it met a similar fate. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1901 of this newspaper. |
