Description | The National Forum, a Washington, D.C. African-American weekly, likely debuted on April 30, 1910, running until at least November 12. Covering local events like Howard University graduations and Baptist church activities, it also featured national news, sports, home maintenance, women’s issues, and science. Notable was its coverage of Elks Club events. "Vanity Fair," a community-focused column by John H. Wills, often graced its front page. Publisher and editor Ralph W. White later launched the McDowell Times in West Virginia. Originally at 609 F St., NW, it moved to 1022 U Street, N.W. to be closer to its African-American audience. Unfortunately, no copies of its first issue survive. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1910 of this newspaper. |
