Description | Republican Committee Chairman, John Hamilton as the Knave of Hearts, stands before the throne of King Franklin D. Roosevelt and Queen of Hearts, Democratic National Committee Chairman, James A. Farley, listening to the charges being read against him by the white rabbit. At the foot of the dais where the King and Queen sit, is a table on which the "tarts" or votes that Hamilton is accused of stealing, are placed. Three bird attorneys representing the intellectual source of Roosevelt's New Deal policies known as the "Brain Trust," are seated at the table. "Alice Public," standing close to the birds, observes the scene before her. |
