NDLI: Scrap balance cannon. Novel scale was constructed in Akron, Ohio by the Firestone Company in order to get across visually to the public that it takes a lot of scrap metal to provide the steel necessary to make a cannon. This scale actually works, and as the metal scrap was poured into the left-hand portion of the scale, it gradually balanced the one on the right
