NDLI: Soup kitchens feed Athens' population Long queues of Athens civilians line up by one of the soup kitchens in the Greek capital to wait for their daily ration. The rations, consisting of uncooked dried beans or peas, and soup powder, are issued at the rate of about 34000 per day. These kitchens are run by British operational troops.
