Many images are copies of engravings and text from books published probably from the 16th century through 1950, including portraits of scientists (chiefly mathematicians), philosophers, musicians, and other important persons featured in the history of mathematics; illustrations presenting mathematical concepts of the last several hundred years for the History Wall (a timeline documenting the evolution of mathematics from A.D. 1100 to 1950); and for the Image Wall (visual demonstrations of mathematical principles). Some images show exhibit, adults and children using interactive displays; opening reception, Seattle, Washington; Charles Eames, Ray Eames, and Eames office staff at work; exhibit models, mathematical instruments; objects, architecture, and cathedrals used to illustrate mathmatical principles; graphs, symbols, diagrams, graphics, typography, and a few design drawings; and text for exhibit: biographies of mathematicians and text on the history of mathematics. |
