Description | Photographs, manuscripts, ephemera, and miscellaneous objects acquired by the Liljenquist Family while building a large collection of cased photographs showing enlisted soldiers during the American Civil War. The manuscript letters, photographs on paper, and certificates include some items associated with the subjects shown in the cased photographs, including Cornelius V. Moore, R. Cecil Johnson, and Hiram L. Barett (hymn book, sewing kit, snuff box, handkerchief, and milk delivery tickets). Numerous card-mounted photographs show Abraham Lincoln, soldiers, and others. Patriotic envelopes are illustrated with decorative symbols, often in color, and bear addresses and postage stamps. The objects include lace and flag fragments, a belt buckle, and a pocket-sized New Testament. |
