Description | Most of photographs were taken by unidentified photographers except for three images (movie stills) of a water wheel, a man plowing, and a boat on the Nile by Fred Niblo and an aerial view of Jerusalem by Frank Mason Good. Most of other images depict sites in North Africa including Egypt (Philae, Abū Sunbul, Luxor, Cairo, and the pyramids at Jīzah); Algeria (Algiers, Oran, Phillipville, and Biskra); Tunis, Tunisia; and Tripoli, Libya. Also includes photographs of Lebanon including the ruins at Baʻlabakk, the Dog River bridge and an aerial view of Zaḥlah; Jerusalem; a tourist tent camp in Palestine; the Ciraǧan Palace and aerial views of İstanbul; and several museum objects including an Egyptian stele at the Louvre, an Assyrian winged figure at the British Museum and the Sarcophagus of Alexander the Great at the Imperial Ottoman Museum, İstanbul. Includes one photomechanical print of Beduoin men. |
