The 13 Communists were convicted in New York on January 21, 1953 under the Smith Sedition Act and, after rejecting the judge's offer, were sentenced to 1-3 years in jail. Keith Temple (1899-1980), spent 47 years working as a lawyer in New Orleans as well as the editorial cartoonist for the New Orleans Times-Picayune. |
