How good a cop?

Description | Cartoon shows a policeman (labeled "U.N.") with a nightstick advancing on a house labeled "Greece." Through the window can be seen a fight between a Greek man and a masked burglar with a gun. In June 1947, a United Nations Balkans investigation commission reported that Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, and Albania were supporting rebellion in Greece. A Soviet veto on July 29 prevented the UN Security Council from taking any action on the problem. The cartoonist (probably anticipating this) questions the ability of the UN to intervene. |
