Description | Four-panel comic strip, drawn a few days after Christmas, shows Albert Alligator, Pogo Possum, and Porkypine in a rowboat named "The City of Savannah." The misanthropic Porky bitterly notes that Christmas is the one day when people behave well: "We stop sucking our thumbs to stick 'em in a few pies ... we stop trimming a passerby to trim a tree, then we fall on our knees to get at the presents." But "now we can put our thumbs back in a neighbor's eye ... up off our knees ... we can use 'em in the clinches ...." Albert digustedly says, "Phoo on Porkypine if he don't like Christmas," but Pogo more discerningly says, "Porky likes Christmas fine." |
