Description | Four-panel comic strip shows Pogo Possum pointing out to Albert Alligator that he had accused Mole MacCarony of kidnapping the Pup Dog and suggesting he be lynched when all the time it was Albert who had packed the Pup Dog in a suitcase by mistake. When Albert defends himself by saying Mole was sneaky and an "old enemy," Pogo responds, "But you was guilty ... an' you blamed him unfair! Enemy or not." Infuriated, Albert yells, "What dogboned good is a enemy if you can't blame him for stuff like that there!!?" Pogo rolls his eyes. In this strip, drawn during the McCarthy era, a period when fear of Communist subversion was at its height, Kelly makes a plea for justice and fair play. |
