Description | Four-panel comic strip shows the hound dog, Beauregard Bugleboy, reading a political speech written for him by the Mouse. It begins, "Ah, the unmitigated gall is split into three parts! Greed, cruelty and stewpiddity! A pox on the usury of any party who asks the pound of flesh ..." He is interrupted by the Mouse who snatches the speech back, saying it is "a letter I was writin' to a 1930 creditor in Keokuk." Beauregard is confounded, saying he thought it "a excellent summary of party sentiments." This strip was one of a series in which Pogo was a reluctant candidate for President. |
