Joe Stalin never had casualties like this

Description	World War II cartoon shows President Roosevelt in a hospital ward, talking to Office of War Mobilization Head James F. Byrnes, who points to a row of patients in beds. The beds are labeled "Gen. Joe Guffey [Senator], Gen. Elmer Davis [head of the Office of War Information], Gen. Fred Vinson [head of the Office of Economic Stabilization], Gen. Chester Bowles [head of the Office of Price Administration], [and] Gen. Paul McNutt [head of the War Manpower Commission]." Roosevelt protests, "Joe Stalin never had casualties like this." Byrnes responds, "But he has only a single front." At the end of 1943, the Russians were suffering a huge number of casualties on the Eastern Front and pressuring the Allies to invade France and create a second front. Berryman appears to suggest that the members of the government who support Roosevelt's war mobilization efforts are casualties like those suffering in Russia and that the political struggles in Washington already constitute a second front.
