Description	Jaisalmer - "The Golden city", is a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan, located 575 kilometres (357 mi) west of the state capital Jaipur. The town stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone and is crowned by the ancient Jaisalmer Fort. This fort contains a royal palace and several ornate Jain temples. Many of the houses and temples of both the fort and of the town below are built of finely sculptured sandstone. The town lies in the heart of the Thar Desert (the Great Indian Desert). Jaisalmer is sometimes called the "Golden City of India" because the yellow sandstone used throughout the architecture of both the fort and the town below, imbues both with a certain golden-yellow light. Jaisalmer is one of the most prominent tourist destinations of Rajasthan. Founded in the 12th century, this World Heritage Site attracts people to its museums, desert festival, Jain temples, palaces and fantastic places for shopping in Jaisalmer. जैसलमेर - "द गोल्डन सिटी", भारतीय राज्य राजस्थान का एक शहर है, जो राज्य की राजधानी जयपुर से 575 किलोमीटर (357 मील) पश्चिम में स्थित है। यह शहर पीले बलुआ पत्थर की एक पहाड़ी पर खड़ा है और प्राचीन जैसलमेर किले द्वारा ताज पहनाया गया है। इस किले में एक शाही महल और कई अलंकृत जैन मंदिर हैं। किले और नीचे के शहर दोनों के कई घर और मंदिर बारीक नक्काशीदार बलुआ पत्थर से बने हैं। यह शहर थार रेगिस्तान (महान भारतीय रेगिस्तान) के केंद्र में स्थित है। जैसलमेर को कभी-कभी "भारत का स्वर्ण शहर" कहा जाता है क्योंकि पीले बलुआ पत्थर का उपयोग किले और नीचे के शहर दोनों की वास्तुकला में किया जाता है, दोनों में एक निश्चित सुनहरी-पीली रोशनी होती है। जैसलमेर राजस्थान के प्रमुख पर्यटन स्थलों में से एक है। 12वीं शताब्दी में स्थापित, यह विश्व धरोहर स्थल जैसलमेर में अपने संग्रहालयों, रेगिस्तान उत्सव, जैन मंदिरों, महलों और शानदार खरीदारी के लिए लोगों को आकर्षित करता है।
