Headnote | CCTV camera footages: Use of photography and videographyat the crime scene – In earlier order dated 03.04.2018 in SLP(Crl)no.2302 of 2017, directions were given to the Administrators of theUnion Territory, State Governments and other Central Agencies toeffectively implement use of photography and videography at thecrime scene – Compliance Affidavits and Action Taken Reports filedby 14 States failed to disclose exact position of CCTV cameras quaeach Police Station and were bereft of relevant details – They aredirected to submit Compliance Affidavits and Action Taken Reportswithin six weeks stating details as mentioned in paragraph 8 of thisorder – As regards the constitution of Oversight Committees inaccordance with order dated 03.04.2018, this should be done atState and District Levels and the State/Union Territories FinanceDepartments to allocate the funds for the said purpose at the earliest– Duty and responsibility for the working, maintenance andrecording of CCTVs would be that of the SHO of the police stationconcerned – State and Union Territory would ensure installation ofCCTV cameras in each and every Police Station functioning in therespective State and/or Union Territory – Directions passedregarding specification of CCTV systems – Direction to set up HumanRights Courts in each District of every State/Union Territory forredressal of complaints of force used at Police Stations resulting inserious injury and/or custodial deaths – Union of India to also fileaffidavit giving updates on the constitution and workings of theCentral Oversight body – Union of India is also directed to installCCTV cameras and recording equipment in the offices ofinvestigative/enforcement agencies – The Executive/Administrative/Police Authorities directed to implement this order both in letterand in spirit as soon as possible. |

NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
