When Doniece Sandoval was driving through SF’s notorious Tenderloin district as she had many times, her cab driver casually called it a place of broken dreams. At that moment, she had an epiphany - that these were real people, who’d grown up never wanting this fate for themselves, but nevertheless ended up there. She was determined to do something to help them and change the terrible status quo.
