Description | Run Time approx. 2 minutes. Italian Medieval Dance. The town of Castellina dance group was founded in 1999 with the aim of studying and disseminating the dances of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, taking origin from the ancient and little known story of the small medieval village of Castellina in Serravalle where, each year in the month of July there is a striking reenactment of a banquet at court in which the performances of the dance group play a major role. The study of direct sources, iconographic and historical investigations have led tobuild and rebuild choreographies that draw on the cultures of the European Middle Ages and Renaissance. The town of Castellina dance group is composed exclusively of persons who, as a hobby, spend their free time to the noble art of dance. The dresses of the dancers have historically inserted between 1300 and 1400, being taken from paintings from this period.
