Description | Video explores the basic biotic factors in an ecosystem. The biotic components of an ecosystem include all the living things in an area. Video shows two different butterflies and asks: Why are these butterflies different from each other? It is possible to pause the tape and discuss with students. The answer: They are members of two different species. Species consists a group of organisms that successfully reproduce among themselves. A population is defined as a group of the same species in the same area. A community consists of all the living organisms in an area. Natural community consists of all the plants and animals interacting in their environment. A natural community is similar to that of an ecosystem, but the size of an ecosystem is variable. Good quality video and good explanations of terms. Good video for elementary level students. |
