Description | This episode will cover the passions and philosophies from the 18th century, and the profound impact they had on America’s founding. Much of this episode is based on the philosophy of John Locke, who seems to be more connected to the Enlightment/Age of Reason, than the philosophies of the Great Awakenings; however both Enlightment, and the first two Great Awakenings occurred during the same time – in the 18th century, and both were linked to individual liberties; the first two Great Awakenings seem to be focused on the link between the church and government; and the Enlightenment/Age of Reason focused on the relationship between government, and people. |
