The United States is a Republic form of government. A Republic consists of elected officials who represent the people and the people control the power. The original intent of the Republic was to protect the country and handle differences between the states. National government was to be a framework of defense with no more than the minimum power required. Limitations to the Constitutions were put into place to prevent massive power and limit the size of government the founders saw in other nations. The founders’ intentions were to limit government and its powers. Each of our countries three branches was created to act in the best interests of the people. The end of this informational video contains a series of five questions covering the material learned throughout the clip. |
