Description | John Wilkes Booth was born May 10, 1838 in Bel Air, Maryland. At age 17, he made his acting debut. In the 1850s, he joined the No-Nothing Party. During the Civil War, he was a Confederate secret agent. In March of 1865, his attempt to kidnap President Lincoln failed. On April 14, 1865, he assassinated Lincoln at Ford Theater.
