Description | Students in Egypt discover predator/prey relationships and population dynamics as they dissect owl pellets. An English translator repeats to the audience the teacher's instructions. She clearly explains the step-by-step process as the class works outdoors, on the ground. Required tools are shown and named before they are used. Students break apart owl pellets, take away the fur, and find bones of animals the owl has eaten. Bones are then compared to a chart showing the bones of a rat, vole, mouse, shrew and bird. Students match the bones to the chart and record their findings. A pleasant musical background provides audio when no one is speaking. |
