Description | In this interview Mary Pope-Osborne says she stresses when she writes she writes things over and over. In the Magic Tree House she writes about what she thinks kids are going to enjoy and then what she wants to learn about. The girl, Anne, in her books is her, only this girl is more brave, and the boy, Jack, is more like her. The fun she has in life is with her two dogs. Her husband, Will, is also involved, he makes suggestions. She writes because she knows the kids like the books. In her process she gets the idea first, then does research, then she writes an outline, and then she writes. After she gets the first draft done, then she rewrites and rewrites. The last step is the artwork. The companion line of books is more factual, once kids read one of the books they may want to learn more. They are now working on a musical version of Magic Tree House. |
