Description	The cloud of volcanic ash that rolled eastward from Idaho to Nebraska ten million years ago choked out life on land and water. Low-lying Ashfall filled with dust, keeping the bones of the victims undisturbed. Discovered by Dr. Michael Voorhies in 1971, the fossil bed was carefully excavated, leaving skeletons in place. Today, Ashfall is still being studied and provides visitors a unique look at the last moments of long-vanished creatures who roamed the ancient Nebraska savannah. Learn more at NebraskaStudies.org.
