Description | This is part 2 of the three-part "Crayon Rock Cycle" activity and must be done after part 1: Sedimentary Rocks. In this activity, learners explore how metamorphic rocks form. Learners start by creating a second sedimentary crayon rock. Learners place their rock in a tin foil boat, which is set on top of hot water. As the heat transfers from the water to the tin foil, this sedimentary rock becomes a metamorphic rock. Once their rock is formed, learners should draw their rock in their science journal. The activity guide contains step-by-step instructions, a background "Did You Know" section, an early childhood adaption section, and an extension "challenge" section. |
