Description	চাঁদের ন্যায় সূর্যের গায়েও কিছু দাগ রয়েছে। সূর্যের তীব্র চোখ ধাঁধানো আলোর জন্য আমরা সূর্যের দিকে সরাসরি তাকাতে পারি না। সেইকারণে দাগগুলি আমাদের দৃষ্টিগোচর হয় না। এই দাগগুলি সৌরকলঙ্ক নামে পরিচিত। দেশ-বিদেশের প্রাচীন সভ্যতার শিলালিপির মধ্যে এরকম জ্ঞানের নিদর্শন পাওয়া যায়। সৌরকলঙ্কের কথা প্রথম বিজ্ঞানী গ্যালিলিও মানুষকে জানান। ধর্মযাজকরা এই ব্যাপারে গ্যালিলিওর মুখ বন্ধ করতে সক্ষম হলেও অন্যান্য অনেক বিজ্ঞানী এ নিয়ে গবেষণা শুরু করেন। ক্রমান্বয়ে বিভিন্ন বিজ্ঞানীদের হাত ধরে সৌরকলঙ্কের অস্তিত্ব প্রমাণিত হয় ও বিস্তর গবেষণা চলে- যা এই প্রবন্ধে আলোচনা করা হয়েছে। Like the moon, the sun also has some spots on its body. We cannot look directly at the sun for its dazzling light. That is why the spots are not visible to us. These spots are known as sunspots. These are found in the inscriptions of ancient civilizations at India and abroad. Galileo was the first scientist to tell people about sunspots. Although the clergy were able to silence Galileo, many other scientists began to study it. Gradually, the existence of sunspot was proved by various scientists and extensive research was carried out - which is discussed in this article.
