| Abstract | A series of aluminum complexes supported by β-ketoamino, ligand-bearing, 3-position substituentsLAlEt$_{2}$ (L=CH$_{3}$C(O)C(Cl)=C(CH$_{3}$)NAr (L $_{1}$), L=CH$_{3}$C(O)C(H)=C(CH$_{3}$)NAr (L $_{2}$), L=CH$_{3}$C(O)C(Ph)=C(CH$_{3}$)NAr (L $_{3}$), and L=CH$_{3}$C(O)C(Me)=C(CH$_{3}$)NAr (L $_{4}$), Ar=2,6-Pr$_{2}$C$_{6}$H$_{3}$) were synthesized in situ and employed in the ringopening polymerization (ROP) of ε-caprolactone (ε-CL) and cyclohexene oxide (CHO). The 3-position substituents on the β-ketoamino ligand backbone of the aluminum complexes influenced the catalyst activity remarkably for both ROP of ε-CL and CHO. Aluminum β-ketoamino complexes displayed different catalytic behavior in ROP of ε-CL and CHO. The order of the catalytic activity ofLAlEt$_{2}$ wasL $_{1}$AlEt$_{2}$>L $_{2}$AlEt$_{2}$>L $_{3}$AlEt$_{2}$>L $_{4}$AlEt$_{2}$ for ROP of ε-CL, being opposite to the electron-donating ability of the 3-position substituents on the β-ketoamino ligand, while the order of the catalytic activity for ROP of CHO wasL $_{1}$AlEt$_{2}$>L $_{3}$AlEt$_{2}$>L $_{4}$AlEt$_{2}$>L $_{2}$AlEt$_{2}$. The effects of reaction temperature and time on the ROP were also investigated for both ε-CL and CHO. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community.
