| Abstract | In this paper we have considered a nonautonomous SIRC epidemic model for Influenza A with varying total population size and distributed time delay. The individuals in the class R are those who have recovered from the dominant strain currently circulating and against which they have full immunity, and after some period of time, the individuals move to the class C of cross-immune individuals. In the compartment C, the individuals are exposed to the currently dominant strain at the same contact rate of the susceptible, when they are in contact with infective, however, only a fraction of the exposed cross-immune individuals are enrolled per unit time into the infective compartment I. Here, we have established some sufficient conditions on the permanence and extinction of the disease by using inequality analytical technique. By Lyapunov functional method, we have also obtained some sufficient conditions for global asymptotic stability of this model. Moreover, we have observed that the time delay decreases the lower bound of the infective. Computer simulations are carried out to explain the analytical findings. The aim of the analysis of this model is to identify the parameters of interest for further study, with a view to informing and assisting policy-maker in targeting prevention and treatment resources for maximum effectiveness. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
