| Abstract | In der Ziegeleigrube Jungk in Wöllstein wurde ein Profil aus der Bodenheim- und der Stadecken-Formation (Oligozän, Rupelium) sedimentologisch und biostratigraphisch mit Hilfe von Foraminiferen, Dinozysten und kalkigem Nannoplankton untersucht. In dem Profil ist eine Coarsening-upward bzw. Shallowing-upward Sequenz erkennbar, die mit pelitischen Ablagerungen unter der Wellenbasis beginnt und mit flachmarinen siltig-sandigen Ablagerungen endet. Ökologische Aussagen sind nur eingeschränkt möglich. Die Diversität der autochthonen Fauna und Flora ist gering und zeugt von ungünstigen Lebensbedingungen. Während der Ablagerungszeit der Rosenberg-Subformation herrschten vollmarine Bedingungen bei einer Wassertiefe von mindestens 60 m und schwer besiedelbaren Bodenverhältnissen. Während der Ablagerungszeit der Pfadberg-Subformation bestanden brackische Verhältnisse mit episodischen Strömungseinflüssen in verringerter Wassertiefe. Während der Ablagerungszeit der Elsheim-Subformation verflachte sich der Ablagerungsraum bis auf wenige Meter Wassertiefe. Das Milieu war weitgehend wieder normal marin.Die Sedimente führen bei allen drei untersuchten Mikrofossilgruppen einen hohen Anteil an umgelagerten Formen (Jura bis Eozän), wobei aufgrund der regionalen Geologie angenommen werden muss, dass der Transport über einige 100 km erfolgte. Hinweise, ob das umgelagerte Material aus dem Norden oder Süden stammt, liegen nicht vor.Die autochthonen Anteile der untersuchten Mikrofossilgruppen ergaben eine Einstufung des Profils in die Globigerinidae-Miliolidae-Häufigkeitszone, in die Dinozystenzone D14na und in die Kalknannoplanktonzone NP 24. Die Korrelation der Zonen D14na und NP24 weicht von den Kenntnissen aus Norddeutschland ab, wo die Zone D14na mit der Zone NP23 korreliert. Möglicherweise beruht diese Diskrepanz ebenfalls auf Umlagerung.An outcrop of the Bodenheim- and Stadecken-Formation (Rupelian, Oligocene) was studied sedimentologically and biostratigraphically in the clay pit Jungk near Wöllstein regarding foraminifers, dinocysts and calcareous nannoplankton. A coarsening- and shallowing-upward sequence was identified. Sedimentation started with pelitic sediments, deposited below the wave base and ended with shallow marine, silty to sandy sediments. Ecological interpretations are limited. The diversity of the authochthonous fauna and flora is low and shows poor life conditions. The Rosenberg-Member of the Bodenheim-Formation was formed in a normal marine environment in at least 60 m water depth under soft to soupground conditions. The overlaying Pfadberg-Member was deposited in the transition zone in a brackish environment. During the deposition time of the Elsheim-Member the water depth decreased to a few meters. Connections to an open marine area existed temporarily.A high number of reworked (Jurassic to Eocene) microfossils were encountered throughout the section. Based on the regional geology the transport distance was over 100 km. It is not distinguishable if the origin of the reworked material is from the north or from the south.According to the autochthonous microfossils the section is referred to the Globigerinidae-Miliolidae-abundance-zone, the dinoflagellate zone D14na and the calcareous nannoplankton zone NP24. The correlation of zone D14na with zone NP24 differs from the known correlation in northern Germany, where zone D14na is correlated with zone NP 23. This discrepancy might also be a consequence of reworking. |
