| Abstract | Nanopowders of Fe and ZrO$_{2}$ were synthesized from Fe$_{2}$O$_{3}$ and Zr by high-energy ball milling. The powder sizes of Fe and ZrO$_{2}$ were 70 nm and 12 nm, respectively. Highly dense nanostructured 4/3Fe-ZrO$_{2}$ composite was consolidated by a pulsed current activated sintering method within 1 minute from the mechanically synthesized powders (Fe-ZrO$_{2}$) and horizontal milled Fe$_{2}$O$_{3}$+Zr powders under the 1 GPa pressure. The grain sizes of Fe and ZrO$_{2}$ in the composite were calculated. The average hardness and fracture toughness values of nanostuctured 4/3Fe-ZrO$_{2}$ composite were investigated. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
