| Abstract | The transient current were analysed by considering the effect of variation of forming time, temperature, field and composition of blend specimens. Measurements indicated that transient charging and discharging currents exhibited thermally activated character but did not show mirror image behaviour at different temperatures and field values. The log $\emph{I}$ –log $\emph{t}$ plots were found to follow the Curie–Von Schweidler law with the value of decay constant ‘ $\emph{n}$ ’ lying in the range of 0·029–2·9456. These observed characteristics also indicated that the transient charging in PVF:PVDF fluoro polyblends occur partly due to orientation of dipoles but predominantly due to trapped space charges and hopping of charge carriers amongst localized states. The modification in transient behaviour on blending PVDF with PVF have been explained on the basis of plasticization effect which increases free volume and molecular mobility and T $_{ g }$ modification in the trap structure. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
