NDLI: Control systems for objects with positive internal feedback

Abstract	The control of objects with positive internal feedback is considered. A classification of such objects is proposed: feedback in terms of the concentration, feedback in terms of the mass, feedback in terms of the parameters, and hybrid feedback. For the first three classes, the structures of the automatic control systems are presented, and the influence of indeterminacies in the models on the operational efficiency is analyzed. For objects with positive internal feedback in terms of the concentration, the automatic control systems are analyzed for objects with and without self-regulation in the direct chain. For objects with feedback in terms of the mass and feedback in terms of the parameters, the automatic control system is analyzed for objects without self-regulation in the direct chain. Numerical estimates are obtained for the efficiency as a function of the ratio of the parameters (the gain and the time constant) in the model of the object and the object of control for all cases.
